Introduction

After years of devoted watching, I've decided to stop following The Young and the Restless. I discovered Ali's yrchat.com site and found her podcast engaging. Her anthropomorphic book The Fauna and the Flora is wonderful.

I fell in love with this show because of its compelling, nuanced characters—people worth investing in emotionally. But over time, the show has transformed into something I can barely recognise. Characters I once cared about have devolved into cartoonish villains defined by hypocrisy and cruelty, or they've become frustratingly shallow and self-destructive.

For my own peace of mind, I started writing these rewrites—imagining what the show could be if it stayed true to the characters and storytelling that made it special. For a while, these stories helped me hold onto what I loved about Y&R. Now I’m sharing them here, hoping other longtime fans might enjoy them too.

This rewrite explores what happens when Newman control meets a parent who won’t gamble with his children. Turns out, everyone only survives when someone finally has more than one brain cell.
• Red Storm Rising: A Young and the Restless Kidnap Rewrite
  Victor threatened Cane’s family in the Newman office—but he forgot whom he kicked out of the room. Phyllis didn’t stop recording people when the Grand Phoenix closed; she just became selective. One play at Crimson Lights later, and Victor’s phone explodes with panicked texts. This rewrite asks: what if Phyllis was actually Phyllis?
