After years of devoted watching, I've decided to stop following
The Young and the Restless.
I discovered Ali's
yrchat.com
site and found her podcast engaging. Her anthropomorphic book
The Fauna and the Flora
is wonderful.
I fell in love with this show because of its compelling, nuanced characters—people worth investing in emotionally. But over time, the show has transformed into something I can barely recognise. Characters I once cared about have devolved into cartoonish villains defined by hypocrisy and cruelty, or they've become frustratingly shallow and self-destructive.
For my own peace of mind, I started writing these rewrites—imagining what the show could be if it stayed true to the characters and storytelling that made it special. For a while, these stories helped me hold onto what I loved about
Y&R.
Now I’m sharing them here, hoping other longtime fans might enjoy them too.
My Fanfic
The 2026 Prediction with Teaser and Scripts
Cole was getting better. Then he died. This story asks: what if someone made sure he didn’t recover—and what if someone could prove it? The ending is too final—I’m still working on that.
Winter Weather: A Young and the Restless Fan Rewrite
Victor stole Cane’s AI to destroy Jabot. But when it turned on Newman Enterprises instead, Victor became convinced it was sentient—watching, judging, punishing. Was the AI real? Or was Cane playing the greatest con in Genoa City history? Winter comes to those who don’t look closely enough. Inspired by
The Usual Suspects.
Community Theatre: A Young and the Restless Kidnap Rewrite
Victor treated it like a business deal: two kids, two coasts, clean logistics. “No physical harm. Fear is the tool.” But Cane didn’t negotiate—he called the FBI. This rewrite explores what happens when Newman control meets a parent who won’t gamble with his children. Turns out, everyone only survives when someone finally has more than one brain cell.
Red Storm Rising: A Young and the Restless Kidnap Rewrite
Victor threatened Cane’s family in the Newman office—but he forgot whom he kicked out of the room. Phyllis didn’t stop recording people when the Grand Phoenix closed; she just became selective. One play at Crimson Lights later, and Victor’s phone explodes with panicked texts. This rewrite asks: what if Phyllis was actually Phyllis?
The Winters’ Ultimatum: A Young and the Restless Kidnap Rewrite
Victor kidnapped Lily and the twins to force Cane’s hand—but missed one detail: there’s another billionaire in town, and Lily is his sister. Ten minutes to prove they’re safe on livestream, or... With Dominic still missing, this rewrite asks: what if someone finally had enough?
Final Sendoff: A Young and the Restless Kidnap Rewrite
Victor thought he held all the stones—but Cane sees the board differently. One tense confrontation at the Newman Ranch changes everything, and nothing will ever be the same.
Illusion of Control: Could this happen on Y&R?
When Lily disappears for over two weeks, Cane panics and folds to Victor's threats. But Devon recognises the pattern, wears a wire, and brings down the entire Newman family with one question: "Did my sister really agree to this?"
Double O Jack: A Young and the Restless Fan Fiction Arc
With Patty as Jack's jailer, giving her a mere kiss has secured a trip to the deck. Reconnaissance or prelude to escape? And who, pray tell, is more dangerous: Patty or Jack? What we do know: Jack clearly slept through the Hostage Survival seminar Jabot's security held last year.
Have thoughts on these rewrites? I’d love to hear from fellow Y&R fans.
